The Story of Lisa & Ben

It only cost 3/4 billion dollars for Lisa and Ben to find each other. Back in 2018, Lisa's company acquired the company Ben worked for, and somewhere between the meetings, emails and corporate life, their story quietly began. Their very first meeting happened when a colleague told Ben "go and find Lisa Withey, she'll know the answer". Lisa doesn't remember the interaction at all....but Ben remembers it very clearly, right down to what she was wearing that day. Over the next couple of years, they developed a friendship while working together on various projects. Then came the 2019 Christmas party, where a colleague casually mentioned to Ben that she thought they'd make a good couple. That small comment gave him the courage to send Lisa a message. Lisa's response? A very firm no. Actually, several firm no's. Between working together and an age difference, Lisa was adamant that dating was not a good idea. Ever the salesperson that Ben is, he was persistent, patient, and apparently very convincing, because after 6 weeks of messaging back and forth, Lisa finally agreed to go on a date. During this six weeks, Ben was volunteering with the RFS during the 2019/2020 bushfires and amidst everything that was starting to happen in the world, they found themselves talking constantly and checking in on each other. Their first dinner date almost didn't make it past the front door. Lisa arrived at Ben's apartment to find him wearing a football singlet and shorts, immediately thinking to herself "Surely he's going to get changed". To her relief, he disappeared briefly before reappearing in.....another pair of shorts, a t-shirt and thongs. Not exactly the transformation Lisa had been hoping for. His Sunday best he called it. At that point, she wasn't entirely convinced about this guy, but thankfully his personality and restaurant choice, turned out to be better than his dress sense. A few short weeks after their first date, the world went into lockdown. While it wasn’t exactly the beginning either of them imagined, it meant much of their early relationship was spent simply enjoying each other’s company, sitting on the couch, going for walks, and building a relationship away from the noise of the world....in a tiny one bedroom apartment. In November 2020, they moved in together, followed by an engagement in August 2021. Then came their greatest adventures yet — welcoming Olivia in 2023 and Jayden in 2024. Life together is a balance in every sense. Lisa is admittedly the more high-strung of the two, while Ben remains cool, calm and collected through almost everything. Somehow, it works perfectly. Lisa continues her lifelong mission of convincing Ben that vegetables are an essential food group and ensuring his potatoes are crispy enough, while Ben patiently tolerates Lisa's coffee addiction, slow driving, and love of Alo Yoga activewear! Together, they share a love of travel and adventure, visiting many of their favourite cities in the US, Mexico, Hawaii and Fiji and multiple family trips within Australia— with Olivia already proving herself to be an enthusiastic traveller who is always asking where her suitcase is. After almost five years of being engaged, countless adventures, two beautiful children, and many crispy potatoes later, it’s finally time to make it official. We can’t wait to celebrate with all of the people we love on 30 October!

Tux vs. Suit: What's the Difference?

Ladies are invited to wear gowns, floor length dresses, formal cocktail dresses or pant-suits.Men are invited to wear suits or tuxes.Please note that the ceremony will be held on a gravel area. Whilst this will only be for a short period of time and seating will be provided, ladies, please bear this in mind when making your shoe selection!

Saddles is a renowned restaurant and bakehouse located in Mount White on the Central Coast of NSW. It is situated on a 28-acre estate, approximately a 50 minute drive north of Sydney CBD. Th ceremony will be held overlooking the dam and the reception will be held in The Barn.

If you will be driving to the wedding venue, ample parking is available on-site at no charge.

Parking

For those guests who do not want to drive, we have organized transportation to/from Sydney CBD. This will allow you to get to/from the venue safely, where you can then make your way home or perhaps spend the night in the city to make it a weekend getaway! Travel time is approximately 50 minutes. Travel from Sydney CBD to SaddlesThe bus will depart from the Novotel Sydney on Darling Harbour at approximately 2pm. Please refer back to this page closer to the wedding for the confirmed pick-up time and hotel meeting point. Travel from Saddles to Sydney CBDThe bus will depart the venue following the conclusion of the reception and will return guests back to the Novotel Sydney on Darling Harbour. If you would like to take advantage of this option, please let us know in your RSVP.

Transportation to Mount White

As the wedding is being held in a secluded location, rideshare services like Uber can be unreliable and often unavailable, especially late at night. If you plan to enjoy the bar, please pre-arrange transportation or utilize the transport to/from Sydney CBD that we will be providing. We want all our guests to have a fun and safe night!

Ride Share Services

Saddles is located in a secluded area, with the closest town on the Central Coast being Gosford, which is approximately a 20 minute drive. If you are coming from outside of Sydney, or wish to make a weekend getaway of the wedding on the Central Coast, there are hotel options available in the area or Air BnB's close by. Please note if you are staying on the Central Coast, it will be your own responsibility to organise transport to/from the wedding if you do not wish to drive. If you would be interested in arranged transportation to/from the wedding venue from the Gosford area for a cost per person, please let us know in your RSVP (or reach out to Lisa or Ben if you have already RSVP'd). We have also arranged a discounted rate at the Voco Gosford. Please see below for further details and booking link. Alternatively, we have also arranged a discounted rate at the Novotel Sydney on Darling Harbour, which might be ideal for you, if you are taking advantage of the transportation to/from Sydney CBD. Please see below for further details and booking link.

Accommodation Options 

The Voco Gosford have offered a discounted rate for our guests, which is 10% off their Book Early &amp; Save rate. The booking link is valid up to 30 days prior to the wedding date, so don't leave this to the last minute if you would like to stay here! The discounted rate is available for both Thursday 29th and Friday 30th October. The rate is inclusive of room only. Breakfast can be added upon arrival at $35 per person, per day and car parking is available for $35 per vehicle, per night. Please note, check-in time is from 3pm and the hotel cannot guarantee an earlier time, however they can note the request and do their best to accommodate if possible on the day. Please remember the ceremony arrival time is 3:15pm. If you do check-in on the day of the wedding before this time, you are welcome to park your car or store luggage and complete check-in on return as Reception is available 24 hours a day.

The Novotel Sydney on Darling Harbour have offered a discounted rate for our guests. The booking link is valid up until 29th September, so don't leave this to the last minute if you would like to stay here! The discounted rate is inclusive of bed and breakfast. Please note that the balance of the reservation will be charged to the nominated credit card at 30 days prior to arrival and NOT upon check in at the Hotel as per the confirmation. The hotel check-in time is 3pm. Early check-in and late check-out are available subject to availability and may incur additional charges. We recommend contacting the hotel in advance to arrange these services. Please remember the ceremony arrival time is 3:15pm. If you do check-in on the day of the wedding before this time and early check-in is not available, you are welcome to park your car or store luggage and complete check-in on return as Reception is available 24 hours a day. Hotel parking is available: A 24-hour pass is $65 (unlimited entry and exit) or there is also the Harbourside Car Park (Wilson Parking) behind the hotel for approximately $40 per 24 hour period.
